Zetor Wolfdog IFV

Wolfdog is an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) developed by the Czech company Zetor Engineering. It was first unveiled during the 2017 IDET expo in Brno. A section of the vehicle (including the interior) was presented alongside the suspension. It was intended to be one of the contenders for the Czech army IFV replacement programme, but as of today, no actual prototypes were built. However, it is still being offered on the manufacturer's website.

Wolfdog was to boast an impressive protection, reaching STANAG level 5. Additionally, its frontal armour could be upgraded to withstand direct hit from 57 mm gun. The interior is quite spacious, enabling 3 crewmembers and 8 infantrymen to comfortably fit inside. Despite its great weight (38 - 49 tonnes depending on configuration), Wolfdog maintains good mobility – 70 km/h.

Exact armament is not specified, only the gun caliber is known – either 30 mm gun fitted inside an unmanned turret, or 105 mm gun mounted on a manned turret. However, given the shape of turret in renders, I was able to determine that the 30 mm unmanned turret would likely be the Protector MCT-30, developed by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS (Norway). As for the 105 mm version, a Centauro B1 turret would be fitted. However, newer turret has since been developed for Centauro II project, which I decided to use for my model. It is only logical that, should Wolfdog be build now, it would use the latest components.

I truly enjoyed working on this project. It is the first modern vehicle I ever modeled. Furthermore, it is quite obscure and went under many people's radar. I am happy to bring more awareness to it, as I believe it is an interesting vehicle which deserves proper attention.
